Red Lechwe are semi‑aquatic antelope with elongated bodies and hind legs adapted for running in marshes.

Their rich russet coats and lyre‑shaped horns make them visually striking. Shot Placement & Caliber Recommendations

Aim low on the shoulder for a broadside shot.

This is because lechwe often stand in water, ensure you can see enough of the chest to pick a vital zone. A .270 or .30 calibre rifle with quality ammunition is sufficient. Make sure to protect your equipment from moisture during the stalk.

Only rams have horns.

They are also larger and darker than ewes, displaying a thicker neck and chest during the rut. Females form nursery groups and are hornless. Rams may hold harems of ewes during the breeding season and will fight vigorously using their horns.
